When you have a web site, it does not go automatically from your computer to any other computer.
It first needs to go to a server.
Your server, or web host, has a powerful computer which is operating 24/7. Your domain name which we talked about earlier has a DNS (Domain Name Server). The DNS is also a type of address which points your registered domain name towards the server which is hosting it. Although the DNS can be changed, sometimes it is difficult to do this and therefore it makes a lot of sense to have your domain name hosted with the same firm with which you had it registered. When your domain name is due for re-registration, it can also be transferred to another registrar. Ian McKenzie’s Domains charges nothing for this service, just the cost of the additional year’s registration, which is generally much less than you would be paying elsewhere anyway.
Besides, we even offer to host your domain name completely free of charge in exchange for placing a few unobtrusive advertisements on it, if you register your domain name with us.
Most people however, like their web site to be advertisement free. And, that is fine. Ian McKenzie’s Domains offer three different hosting plans. These are:
Economy - Deluxe - Premium
Each one is excellent value. To get details, go to Ian McKenzie’s Domains and then click on the hosting tab.
For most users the ‘Economy’ plan will be quite sufficient. And this plan will cost you less than $5 per month (based on 12 months or higher subscription), for your web site hosting.
So purchase your domain name, get your hosting plan, build your web site, and publish it for the world to see!
Good Luck
Ian McKenzie
